Just 3 hours from London by car and 2 by train, Valleys Reach is a charming Somerset longhouse that dates back to the 14th century and has been sympathetically renovated over the years to how it is today - a wonderful large group holiday house that has a private hot tub and sleeps 14 people in 7 bedrooms, with a separate ensuite annexe available for 2 adults at an extra charge. The house oozes timeless country charm with period furnishings, inglenook fireplaces and window seats; the views are incredible, rolling on for miles out over the valley. Valleys Reach is the perfect group accommodation for holidays with friends and family, and for happy celebrations.

Valleys Reach is tucked away deep in the countryside, a stone's throw from the sleepy village of Waterrow and close to Exmoor National Park. Once you're here you might not feel the need to go out at all, but if you do, you won't have to go far to find things to do. Right on the doorstep footpaths and bridleways take you up and down the hills, through ancient copses, and across open fields. Go exploring, take a picnic, or stroll down to The Rock Inn for a leisurely lunch.

Make a day of it and pootle over to Exmoor to discover the diverse landscape of heather topped heaths where wild ponies roam free, dramatic cliff tops, steep wooded hillsides, and scenic river valleys. Have a stroll along the river at Watersmeet, cross the clapper bridge at Tarr Steps, climb to the top of Dunkery Beacon; head over to the coast to Porlock Weir, or to Lynton and Lynmouth where you can ride the Victorian Cliff Railway and walk to the Valley of Rocks. Take the kids to Exmoor Zoo, to Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre or Dunster Castle.

The Quantock Hills aren't far either; amble up through the combes to the bracken clad hill tops for panoramic views across the landscape. Go to Bishops Lydeard and catch a steam train to the coast with the West Somerset Railway; alight for an afternoon on the beach at Minehead or Blue Anchor. Head for Kilve for fossil hunting and rockpooling, and if surfing is your thing it might be a bit further but Croyde on the North Devon coast is renowned for its excellent waves. The Jurassic Coast is about an hour away; visit historic Lyme Regis where you can take a trip out to sea on a mackerel fishing boat, go to the Marine Aquarium or Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. At Tiverton you can sit back on a horse-drawn barge as you drift along the Grand Western Canal, or hire boats for a paddle on the waters; back on land go to The Canal Tea Rooms & Gardens for a cream tea, or have a drink on Duck's Ditty Floating Cafe Bar.  Whatever you choose to do, at the end of a wonderful day out you can get back to Valleys Reach, shut the world outside the door and just relax and enjoy the views of those softly rolling hills.

Valleys Reach is the perfect large group holiday house in the country any time of year; in warmer months you can idle the hours away in the garden, sit in the hot tub and watch the clouds drift by in a big blue sky or have afternoon tea on the terrace beneath the wisteria that scrambles up the front of the house. In the colder months come back and light the fire after a country walk, snuggle round with toast and mugs of steaming hot chocolate, settle down for an evening of board games, a snooker competition, or a movie night. Embrace the luxury togetherness, make memories to last a lifetime.

"10/10 - Chrys was so helpful before and during our stay. Hurstone House is a beautiful county house and was perfect for our family's stay. The house had so much character and was so cosy plus we had an abundance of logs so we could enjoy a real fire. The snooker room and hot tub were fantastic and proved very popular with all the family. Dunkery Beacon has great views and worth the walk up to the top. Dunster is a beautiful town and the castle worth visiting."
