Pound Farm is a set within a private walled garden on a working farm. Come and soak up the blissful vibe of country living, with peaceful surroundings, and miles and miles of glorious countryside all around. Right from the doorstep you'll find winding country lanes to walk and footpaths through the fields; it's only a short stroll to Bishops Lydeard where you'll find a convenience store, a newsagent's, a traditional butcher's, a tea room, and two welcoming pubs. On a summer's evening there's something very special about an amble to the Lethbridge Arms for a bite to eat; on the way home you'll smell wild honeysuckle in the hedgerows and hear owls hooting - it's a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Close by are the Quantock Hills, where you can climb up through the sun dappled combes to the rufty-tufty heaths where wild ponies graze and the views are panoramic. Make summit bids at Hurley Beacon, Cothelstone Hill and Wills Neck, the highest point in the hills; wander up to the Bronze Age stone at Triscombe and then have lunch at The Blue Ball Inn, or pootle your way round to Crowcombe for a stop at The Carew Arms.

Head into Taunton to browse the shops, fill your baskets with local goodies at the farmer's market, play about at Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre, go tenpin bowling on the outskirts of town. Have a family day out at Animal Farm Family Theme Park or go over to Wookey Hole in the Mendip Hills; closer to home, stroll in to Bishops Lydeard to board a steam train with the West Somerset Railway, alighting for an afternoon by the sea at Minehead or Blue Anchor. Venture over to the Jurassic coast for the day; visit Regency Sidmouth or the quiet fishing village of Beer where you can visit Beer Quarry caves, ride the miniature train at Pecorama and tuck into crab sandwiches by the shore at Ducky's Beach Café. At Lyme Regis you can take the kids to the Marine Aquarium and Dinosaurland Fossil Museum or have an exhilarating Rib Ride around the bay.

Go and explore Exmoor National Park with its heather clad moors, deep river valleys and dramatic clifftops; have a cream tea at Watersmeet or Tarr Steps, sit and watch the world go by at Porlock Weir, climb up through the wooded cliffs to Culbone Church and see the medieval castle on the hill at Dunster. If surfing is your thing get up early and head down to Croyde, Putsborough or Combe Martin to catch the waves.

When you get back to Pound Farm fire up the barbecue for a relaxing evening in the garden; have a soak in the hot tub or take a late night dip in the pool before climbing the stairs to Blanket Land.
