Swallows Rest has a peaceful setting in the Somerset countryside, tucked away on a private lane, views over the fields, big open skies. On the outside, a gorgeous old farmhouse, made of thick stone, wisteria climbing up the front wall. Inside is a seamless blend of the rustic and the modern, with features like hefty elm ceiling beams, window seats and restored Jacobean paneling. It’s a lovely backdrop to any holiday with friends and family, for low-key celebrations, and for hen weekends in the country.
You’ll certainly have everything you need, and more, if truth be told. Super comfy beds, ensuite bathrooms, big leather sofas to snuggle on, a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of creature comforts. And when it comes to keeping you entertained Swallows Rest is flying high; inside there’s a games room with a 3-in-1 table, so you can play pool, table tennis and air hockey. Outside there’s an indoor swim spa, a hot tub, and a Scandi style BBQ lodge where you can gather to toast marshmallows or cook up a gourmet grill anytime of year. If you like alfresco dining, this is the place for you, with 3 outdoor seating areas; so that’s brekkers on the covered terrace, afternoon tea in the garden beneath the pergola, and a spritzer by the hot tub!
The swim spa lodge has full height bifold doors along one side, so when the sun is bright and shiny, you can pull them right back and add to the holiday vibe with a fresh indoor-outdoor feel. Stay outdoors to catch the sunset and when it gets dark, share chit-chat and laughter beneath the twinkly lights. There’s no rush to do anything and no-one has to be up early, this is your time, your happy.
Right at the end of the garden field, there’s a small orchard and a play area with swings and football goals, so more than enough space for the little ones to let off any extra steam.
