This part of Dorset is great for exploring and discovering new places, but you don’t really need to go anywhere at all because everything you need is right here on site. If the world beyond the estate is calling, go for it; explore the heathery heaths of Hardy’s Wessex, see the tiny cottage in the woods where the famous author was born; head to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, just a 15 minute drive away, and spend time by the sea at Lulworth Cove, Ringstead Bay or Studland – some of Dorset’s best beaches. Soak up the maritime vibe of Poole Harbour, get to know the county town of Dorchester with its fascinating museums, independent shops and eateries; hang out in Brewery Square for live entertainment and open air cinema.

In May and June you can watch cygnets hatching at Abbotsbury Swannery, stroll around the gorgeous Sub-Tropical Gardens, at their best in late summer; take a walk on the South West Coast Path, catch the buzzy vintage vibe of Bridport on market day.
