Holiday House in the Country Sleeping 14

If there’s one sure way to unwind from the stresses and pressures of modern life it’s getting away with a bunch of your favourite family or best buddies for a large group holiday where you know you’re going to have fun. It’s like a tonic, a pick-me-up; head off, leave your worries behind and put your feet up somewhere where none of that stuff matters, just enjoy that large group break, whether it’s for a whole week or just a few days. Make the most of it.

What makes it even better and increases your chances of de-stressing is heading off to somewhere out in the sticks so you’re surrounded by gorgeous countryside, fresh air and peace and quiet. Well, how about this then? We added this beauty to our books just a month or so ago and it’s already proving to be very popular even though it’s not actually available until April 2019. But that’s not surprising because Frog Street is right up there in the idyllic stakes. So read on, and if you like it, don’t dally, book now or you might miss out.

In a former life Frog Street served as a farmhouse and since then it’s spent a few years as a very hospitable B&B, but now it’s had a bit of a facelift and offers top notch large group holiday accommodation for up to 14 people, deep in the Somerset countryside with an outlook of woods and fields. You won’t be wanting for anything when you stay here; for starters the youngsters in your group will love the games room and the play area, and then outside there’s a BBQ lodge and a fantastic spa lodge with a 5m swim spa. On the veranda is a hot tub perfectly positioned for you to take in that verdant vista whilst you sit back in the bubbles. Can you imagine that on a balmy summers night? What utter bliss, just staying out there chatting till darkness falls, and one by one the twinkly stars come out above you, just….mmm, happiness.

You’ll love it from the minute you turn up. Well, maybe even from the minute you turn off the main road and pootle along the country lanes to the private track where, at the end, you’ll find Frog Street. If you come in the summer, you’ll be welcomed by the sight of wisteria scrambling up the walls and cottage garden flowers sprawling in the flowers beds; in the autumn you’ll have the glorious colours and the seasonal mists. That’s the thing, it’s the perfect rural retreat whatever the time of year.

When you step inside it really feels like a home, you feel welcome; it’s almost as if some eccentric great uncle has given you his Somerset longhouse for a few days, all yours, not just to stay but to enjoy as well. Character oozes from every nook and cranny; chunky old beams, thick stone walls, big inglenook fireplaces, and centuries old wood panelling, but then the house dates back to the 15th century so that’s what you’d expect.

You’ll wake up to birds twittering and lazy breakfasts, then you can pull on your boots and stroll off down the footpath, through the woods and across the fields to the village where you can stop off at the little post office-shop, buy a newspaper and have a coffee, or go to the pub for lunch. There’s actually loads to do in the local area – family attractions, historic houses, towns to browse and all that, but you probably won’t want to go far, especially if you’re only here for a couple of days, you’ll want to enjoy the time together.

If you want to go out to eat there are some good country pubs within a few miles, but that means someone has to drive, so plan ahead and book up one of our recommended professional caterers instead – they’ll come to Frog Street and cook whatever you chose from their menus; they’ll serve you drinks and canapes, so you get a real sense of occasion, it makes it that much more special.

Just think how you can idle the days and nights away, all of you together, catching up, having fun. You can cosy up to watch a film in the sitting room, have an in-house pool challenge, or get out in the BBQ lodge for the evening. It’s a good one, this one because it’s even got its own little kitchen so everything is to hand, and we bet you’ll be out there till the early hours chattering away beneath the fairy lights. The kids will have a ball, tearing about in the field and scrabbling about in the play area! Go and join in, play rounders or kiss chase! And whenever you want to you can put on your bathing suit and get in that swim spa.

And there you have it; there’s nothing not to like, Frog Street is a country idyll, a large group retreat that’s perfect for so many scenarios – holidays of two or three generations, of a few young families, reunions of old friends, hen weekends, corporate hospitality, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Christmas, New Year, half term breaks, whatever; come and stay, come and enjoy. Have a peak at the calendar to see when Frog Street is available and make it yours for a memorable large group stay.
