The Cottage Beyond is idyllic, set amidst 180 acres of lush organic farmland with views of huge open fields, copse covered hills and tumbling valleys where streams trip happily along. Close your eyes and listen and probably all you'll hear is birdsong and the breeze whispering to the trees. It's a place to come and relax with your nearest and dearest for multi-generational family holidays, with a group of friends, for a sophisticated hen weekend, or a corporate break. If there's a big celebration coming up, The Cottage Beyond is certainly a very special place to be to raise a glass. 6 bedrooms sleep 14 and there's room for 2 more guests at an extra charge per person; in the garden an amazing spa hall has a pool, hot tub and sauna and there's a covered games area.

If you don't want to go out at all, we understand perfectly - after all, there's plenty at The Cottage Beyond to keep you all entertained. But right on the doorstep are high hedged lanes and footpaths where you can explore the beautiful Somerset countryside to your heart's content, and all the better if you plan it to end up at one of the friendly country pubs, like The Martlet at Langford Budville or The Globe at Appley. If you need provisions go to Wellington or Wiveliscombe when the Farmer's Market is on and fill your basket with the best of local produce; otherwise head to Taunton, browse the shops, visit The Museum of Somerset, go ten pin bowling or play on the high ropes at Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre. Go down to Tiverton where you can drift along the Great Western Canal on a horse drawn barge, then have a Devon cream tea in the Canal Tea Rooms & Garden.

Take a nostalgic trip to the coast by steam train with The West Somerset Railway, alight at Blue Anchor or Minehead and play on the sands, or stop at Dunster where you can go to the medieval castle on the hill above the village. Pootle over to Exmoor National Park for the day to explore the rufty-tufty moors and steep wooded valleys; stroll along the river at Watersmeet, take in the charm of Porlock Weir, make a summit bid on Dunkery Beacon for panoramic views of the immense landscape.

Have a picnic at Culm Beacon in the Blackdown Hills, or discover the wilds of the Quantock Hills; go to Fyne Court, climb Wills Neck, or Holford Combe for a walk along the windswept ridge. If surfing is your thing head over to catch the waves at Croyde or Woolacombe on the North Devon Coast; families can have a good day out at Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast where there's a marine aquarium, crazy golf, rockpools to discover, and Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. Take the kids to Tropiquaria Wildlife Park or Crealy Theme Park & Resort; soak up history and splendour at Knightshayes Court or Killerton House, see the beautiful gardens at Hestercombe, or closer to home have a tour of Sheppy's Cider where you can see how the local brew is made.

So much to see, so much to do, or you can just stay put and while away the time happy as crickets at The Cottage Beyond, busy making happy memories.
