Set back from the road in a peaceful hamlet on the Somerset Levels, Riverside exudes relaxed country charm, and has snooze space for 12 guests in 6 bedrooms. Inside is spacious yet homely with the most gentle ambience; it's a wonderful holiday cottage for families because there's something for all ages - a games room with table tennis, pool, darts and table football, a children’s play room, a play area in the garden with a pirate ship and swings, and on the patio beneath a leafy arbour, there's a hot tub. The location is a dream; right on the banks of the River Tone with unspoilt views that stretch for miles and miles across the landscape. Riverside offers idyllic self-catering group accommodation for a week long holiday, a midweek stay or a weekend break any time of year; luxury togetherness awaits you for family holidays and heartfelt celebrations.

Right from the doorstep at Riverside you can stroll along the river to Coates English Willow Centre to watch basket makers at work and tuck into delicious cake in the tea room. A little further is North Curry where you can see the beautiful church, known as 'The Cathedral of the Moors' and go to The Bird in Hand for hearty homemade food. In the other direction from Riverside after a couple of miles you'll reach Burrow Mump; climb to the top, and then go back down to the King Alfred Inn for lunch. A stone's throw away at Stoke St Gregory is the Royal Oak, a community run pub, village shop and cafe that's good for a bite to eat and to stock up on local goodies. Spend a morning mooching about one of the local towns - Somerton, Langport and Ilminster are not without their charm; venture over to Glastonbury to see the ruined abbey where King Arthur is said to be buried, visit the enchanting Chalice Well and walk up the famous Tor for panoramic views of Somerset.

Take a day trip to Wells, England's smallest city; see the magnificent cathedral and the Bishop's Palace where swans live in the moat. It's worth a jaunt out to Muchelney to see the hallowed ruins of a once important abbey; go to the Priest's House (NT) across the road and the parish church where angels were painted on the wagon roof in the 17th century. The county town of Taunton isn't far and has a good mix of high street and independent shops and eateries; go for family fun on the high ropes at Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre, see the almost complete Roman mosaic and the giant's shoe at The Museum of Somerset.

Take a day trip to Exmoor National Park, explore the wild heaths and rolling hills; go to Tarr Steps, Watersmeet or Porlock and round it off with a scrumptious cream tea at Periwinkle Tea Rooms. Also good are the Quantock Hills where you can walk up through wooded combes to the bracken clad heaths where wild ponies feed. Head to the Somerset Coast or the beaches of the Jurassic coast for days by the sea; Charmouth is good for rockpooling and fossil hunting, at Lyme Regis you can take the kids to Dinosaurland Fossil Museum or the Marine Aquarium, and catch your supper on a mackerel fishing trip. Ride the miniature train at Pecorama up on the hill at Beer, see the incredible underground cathedral at Beer Quarry Caves, have crab sandwiches at Ducky's Beach café after a bracing clifftop walk on the South West Coast Path.

Get back to Riverside to enjoy the evening together; a barbecue out on the patio in the summer, and a sundowner on the riverbank at the back of the house. When it's chilly, a cosy family night beside the fire before you climb the wooden hill for a restful nights' sleep. Happy days all round.

"Thank you for a wonderful weekend at Riverside Cottage. We had a fab time in this beautiful home – everything has been thought of. It has rained all weekend but we have played games, watched films and enjoyed the beautiful Christmas tree and fire. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch! The cottage is huge but so cosy – the perfect balance and so clean. Exceptional! Thank you again. "
