Pound Farm is a beautiful centuries old Somerset farmhouse that’s been lovingly updated to provide calm and spacious large group holiday accommodation for 18 plus room for 3 more guests at an extra charge each. Country charm and fantastic facilities make this a wonderful place to stay for family holidays and celebrations, sophisticated hen weekends and self-catering corporate breaks to impress. There really is something for all ages and the setting is wonderful, tucked away at the end of a lane where life is peaceful and the views are of open fields and the distant Quantock Hills.
The castellated porch leads into the hallway where halfway along there’s a utility room – perfect for when you come back from a country walk with wet dogs and muddy boots. Off to the right is the light and airy living room with an open fire and double aspect windows; the feels are gentle and homely, it’s a lovely room to gather together of an evening. To the left is the dining room where a big pine table sets the scene for happy celebration feasts. Go through to the farmhouse kitchen with its original flagstone floor, a double Butler sink, and a 4 oven electric Aga set in a huge inglenook fireplace. In the corner there’s a larder, to one end there’s a door through to the games room with a full-size pool table and table football.
Upstairs from the hall are Bedrooms 2-5; Bedroom 2 has a double bed and an ensuite shower room, Bedrooms 3 and 4 have zip and link beds (super king or twin) and ensuite bathrooms, and Bedroom 5 has a double bed and its own bathroom. Behind a latch and brace door in the kitchen another staircase takes you to Bedrooms 1 and 6, both with ensuite shower rooms. Bedroom 1 has zip and link beds and an optional extra day bed, Bedroom 6 has 2 zip and link beds so it’s great for a family or for 4 older children sharing, with beds arranged as 2 super kings, a super king and 2 singles, or 4 singles.
At the back of the house there’s a large courtyard where an outbuilding has been converted into a sauna. To the left is a converted barn with Bedroom 7 on the ground floor and Bedroom 8 on the first floor, both with zip and link beds plus an optional extra guest bed, and ensuite shower rooms. To the right is the pool house with original oak beams and room for loungers. In the side garden there’s a ground level hot tub that seats 8, a patio with outdoor furniture and a barbecue, and play equipment. The lawns at the front of the house are the perfect place for you all to picnic and play croquet, just the kind of thing that big family holidays are made of. That’s the essence of Pound Farm, it’s a very special place to stay, a place to enjoy and make memories.
