Hill View is snucked away in the rolling hills at Southleigh only a short drive from the quiet fishing village of Beer and the beaches of the Jurassic coast. This 300 year old dairy has been given a new lease of life as a fantastic large group holiday house sleeping 14 in 7 bedrooms with room for 2 more at an extra charge each. Inside it’s all light and airy with gorgeous quirky interiors that blend rustic, contemporary and industrial style to perfection. Note the secret door in the timber clad wall at the end of the kitchen and the worktop on the central island inlaid with two pence pieces – we love it!
The main entrance to the house is through a porch at the side; on the right there’s a utility room with a washing machine and dryer, handy for when you come back from a windswept walk along the beach and need to hang up your wet coats. Straight ahead is the huge open plan living space with a seating area to one end; you can sit comfortably on the enticing sofas or in an armchair and look out over the unspoilt valley through the floor to ceiling windows, a moment of pure mindfulness. There’s a double-sided woodburner in the middle of the room, bringing a warm glow to those chillier days and nights. Beyond is a handcrafted dining table you can gather round for happy family meals and celebration feasts; next to this is the kitchen, very stylish and well-equipped. This is such a sociable space where you can all be together, a chance to catch up to regroup; happy, happy times.
Bedrooms 1-3 are off the dining area, all sleeping 2 in zip and link beds. Bedroom 1 has a bath with an overhead shower, Bedrooms 2 and 3 both have an ensuite shower room and Bedroom 3 has room for an optional extra guest bed (charged). Bedrooms 4-7 are through the ‘secret’ door at the end of the kitchen; Bedrooms 4 and 5 both have ensuite shower rooms, and Bedroom 4 is another one with room for an optional extra guest bed. Bedroom 6 uses the bathroom that’s directly opposite and has a modern free-standing slipper bath, and Bedroom 7 is access friendly with an ensuite wet room. All Bedrooms at Hill View have zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins; the whole of the ground floor is wheelchair accessible with even floors throughout.
Outside on the terrace there’s garden furniture, a barbecue, and a hot tub that can be used year-round. Pop into the local butchers, come back and get the steaks sizzling, run around on the lawn with the young ‘uns; this is quality time, time to unwind. The garden faces the hills so if you slip into the hot tub by day you’ll have wonderful views of the East Devon countryside; at night when the first stars stud the sky, it’s bliss. Book today!
