Life slows down at Dallybank, leaving you to enjoy carefree family holidays in idyllic surroundings; this very homely cottage is set back from the lane in a peaceful hamlet on the Somerset Levels, the River Tone drifts lazily along at the back, beyond are miles and miles of unspoilt countryside. This is a house for all ages, with 4 spacious bedrooms, a games room, playroom, hot tub and play area.
Downstairs
Park up and close the gates, then go on in through the porch to the reception/dining room; to one end are the stairs, at the other a sofa, chairs and a wood-burner, in the middle a chunky dining table. The feels are so welcoming – honestly, if this house had arms they would be wrapped around you, ushering you gently in, so happy to have you here. Straight ahead is the kitchen, overlooking the river, round to the left there’s a very spacious living room where you can cosy up for a family movie night.
Off the living are a loom shower room, and the playroom where full height doors open onto the garden at the front of the house
Back in the reception/dining room, off to the right are a utility room and loo, and then the games room where many happy hours will be spent playing pool, table football and ping-pong.
Upstairs
Bedroom 1 is at the top of the house, on the second floor. It has its own shower room and glorious views that stretch on forever across the fields. On the first floor are Bedrooms 2-4, a family bathroom and separate shower room.
Outside
The garden is at the front of the house, all secure when the gates are closed. Sink into blissful days of dappled sunshine, games on the lawn, and long and leisurely barbecues. The hot tub is just outside of the games room, beneath an arbour, so you can climb in for a soak while your sausages are sizzling. Expect shrieks of delight from the play area – younger children will have so much fun here, with a pirate boat to play on, a living willow hut and swings.
At the back of the house you can sit out on the riverbank and watch the river wander by, the best spot of all for sundowners. Tuck the little ones up in bed, sit out till nightfall and the stars sneak out one by one. Be in each moment, make it a memory, one of many to look back on. “Ah, Dallybank” you’ll say, “Wasn’t it wonderful there…”
