Once the grain barn and cow stalls on a busy working farm, Beaverbrook 20 has been lovingly converted to offer a supersize holiday house that’s packed with amazing features and sleeps 20 guests, plus up to 10 more charged per person. There’s heaps of space of course, and it’s so light and airy, with natural light pouring in through floor to ceiling windows. Modern interiors blend to perfection with the rustic features – exposed stone walls, window sills and soaring timbers made with wood from the Somerset estate where the house is situated.
Go through the hallway to the enormous open plan living/entertaining room where there’s a very well-equipped kitchen to one end, a huge chunky dining table in the middle, and comfy seating at the other end. This room was made for getting big groups of people together and having the happiest of times, it’s a place where you can all relax and mingle, one vast and sociable space. Off to one end of the living space are Bedrooms 1 and 2. Bedroom 1 is access friendly and also has a door from the courtyard. It makes a great family room as it can sleep up to 5 people and has an ensuite bathroom with an integral wet area and freestanding bath. Bedroom 2 can sleep 3 and has an ensuite bathroom with a separate shower. Off the dining area there’s a utility room with laundry facilities and WCS, and from the kitchen a short corridor leads to Bedrooms 3 and 4 which both sleep 2 and have ensuite shower rooms.
The corridor continues to the spa hall where centre place is the heated pool; beyond are the sunken jacuzzi and glass fronted sauna. Doors open onto the walled garden where there’s a large patio with outdoor furniture and a gas barbecue, a play train and a Nordic style BBQ lodge.
Stairs or a stairlift take you to the games room, on the first floor, above the open plan living space; it has an 8ft American pool table, table football, US air hockey and ping-pong. There’s also a docking station, Bluetooth speakers, a TV you can plug a games console into, and a very useful kitchen area with a fridge. Across the landing is the living room/movie room with inviting sofas, a 2m pull-down screen and projector; get together, pass the popcorn around and settle down for a family film night.
In the former milking parlour just across the courtyard are Bedrooms 5-10; these rooms all sleep 2 with the option of an extra guest bed (charged), have ensuite shower rooms and French doors that open onto the courtyard.
