Once a much-used grain barn, The Granary is now a mega-size group holiday house in Somerset for 18, with room for 6 more guests at an extra charge each. You’ll have a private pool and hot tub, a games area and year-round BBQ lodge all to yourselves. Off to the left of the entrance lobby is the pool hall; have a swim, pull up a lounger, open the doors wide and make it all part of the big outdoors. Just outside is the hot tub; slip in and watch cotton wool clouds drift by, in the evening wonder at the stars.
Right of the hall is a vast open-plan living space; the kitchen has everything you need to make catering for a large group hassle free and is equally good for private caterers to work if you hire them to cook you a celebration feast. Next to the kitchen there’s a games area with a pool table and TV, the other end of the room there’s a long dining table for you all to gather round and tuck in. Next to this a commodious U-shape sofa tempts you to cosy up together for a family movie night. This is one huge and very sociable space – just what you need to catch up, reconnect and let the good times roll. Light pours in through floor to ceiling windows, doors open onto the patio, oak beams, feature brick walls and country themed accessories add to the ambience.
Off the games area a lobby leads to a utility room and WC, and to Bedroom 1, access friendly with an ensuite shower room and doors onto the patio at the side of the house. Bedrooms 2-6 are on the first floor and like all bedrooms at The Granary, have zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins. Bedrooms 2, 3, 4 and 6 have ensuite shower rooms; Bedrooms 5 and 7 have ensuite bathrooms with separate showers. There’s room for an optional extra guest bed in Bedrooms 6 and 7, so these are good family rooms.
On the second floor are Bedrooms 8 and 9, both with a freestanding bath in the bedroom as well as ensuite shower rooms; these rooms are great for families too as both can accommodate 2 optional extra guest beds. Out on the landing there’s a very handy kitchenette – brilliant for your morning cuppa or if you’ve got infants who need bottles at night.
Outside there’s a massive patio with garden furniture and an outdoor kitchen with a built-in charcoal barbecue, a sink and room for prepping. There are lawns for the little ones to run about on and a fantastic play area, so expect shrieks of delight; snuggle up in the Scandi style BBQ lodge, sit beneath the twinkly lights sizzling sausages and toasting marshmallows.
