Swallows Rest is a special place to stay, hidden away on a private lane in the Somerset countryside, with views that roll on for miles across an unspoilt landscape, peace and quiet, birdsong, and of course, swallows swooping about in the summer. 4 beautiful bedrooms sleep 8, inside is all country modern with plenty of rustic features like old elm beams, an inglenook fireplace and a 15th century panelled wall.
Downstairs
Step inside the porch to the dining room where a long dining table sets the scene for all those happy holiday feasts; off to the left is the kitchen, farmhouse style, well-equipped and spacious enough to ensure no-one’s left out of the fun.
Right of the kitchen is the living room, where big squishy leather sofas invite you to put your feet up; next is the games room where a 3-in-1 table means you can play air hockey, pool and ping-pong.
Upstairs
Upstairs a long landing takes you to the bedrooms; to one end is the Orchard Suite with Bedrooms 1 and 2, a dressing room and an ensuite bathroom. It’s equally good for a family or for friends sharing as both the beds are zip and link so can be arranged as super kings or twins.
Bedroom 3 (The Garden Room) has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom, Bedroom 4 (Willow Room) has zip and link beds and its own shower room.
Garden
The gardens at Swallows Rest were thoughtfully designed with relaxation at the forefront. There’s a covered dining area just outside the door, which makes a lovely spot for a sunshiney breakfast or dinner beneath the fairy lights. Across the drive a rose arch leads to outdoor sofas under a pergola, and to the BBQ lodge where you can cosy up to toast marshmallows or have a grill anytime of year.
Along tthe path there’s more outdoor seating and joy of joys, the hot tub and the indoor swim spa. When the sun is out to play you can pull back the bifold doors and let indoors and outdoors merge. At the end of the fields there’s a small orchard and a play area with swings and a football goal.
This is a holiday house with a huge feel good factor; there’s everything you need for a stay in the country to revive and restore. Think only of the good times – the fun and the laughter, of sharing precious moments with your favourite people. Think of the memories you’ll be making.
