Perys Hill is a wonderful place to stay. This luxury large group accommodation comprises a Farmhouse that sleeps 8 and a separate Cottage for 4; at no extra charge there’s room for 2 more children aged 12 and under. The large secluded grounds have a private indoor pool, play area, shepherd’s hut, woodlands and streams.
The Farmhouse has been lovingly renovated and is light and spacious throughout; step inside the porch and through to the wide hallway, on the left is the movie room, and on the right, the games room with a snooker table and charming rustic features - the original beamed ceiling and the inglenook fireplace with a woodburner for chillier days.
Each end of the hall doors open to the gardens, giving a wonderful fresh and airy feel; there’s table football, and to one end a lobby leads to a utility room with laundry facilities. Straight ahead in the hall are the stairs and a feature fireplace leading to the dining area of the large open plan living space. Full height doors open to the garden, up above a big skylight means you can dine beneath the stars.
To one end of the living space is a sleek and elegant kitchen, with a central island and plenty of worktop space. The other end of has all the feels of a graceful modern drawing room, with sofas and chairs, and doors opening onto the terrace.
The bedrooms are upstairs, off a wide landing; Bedrooms 1 and 2 have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers, Bedroom 3 has a bathroom right next to it, and Bedroom 4, which has room for 2 optional extra guest beds*, has an ensuite shower room. For more information see Rooms.
A stone’s throw from The Farmhouse, wide shallow steps lead to The Cottage; the front door opens into the dining room where a double-sided woodburner also warms the living room beyond. To the right is Bedroom 1 which has an ensuite bathroom, straight ahead is the kitchen; to one side of this there’s a utility room, to the other is the hall leading to the back door and the living room. Upstairs are Bedrooms 2 and 3 and a bathroom; Bedroom 3 has an optional extra guest bed*. Outside there’s a terrace and sloping lawns, and wonderful views over the grounds and the Somerset countryside.
A short saunter from The Farmhouse and The Cottage is the pool house, a striking building set in the hillside with a sweeping curved façade and a green roof; inside, full height sliding doors give incredible views across the valley.
Gather together for leisurely barbecues on the huge terrace that curves around the back of The Farmhouse, wander around the grounds, among the trees, and across the lawns; the shepherd’s hut makes a good work space or a den for children, though they’ll be perfectly happy in the play area.
