Mingleby Manor dates back to Tudor times and has in recent years undergone an extensive and very considered restoration. It’s a harmonious blend of fascinating historic features and all the convenience of 21st century living, but what really sets this house apart are the interiors – the flair and style are like something out of a glossy homes and gardens magazine. 6 bedrooms sleep 14, rooms are spacious yet homely, and there’s a games room and hot tub.

The feels here are undeniably romantic – there’s even a tower and a secret tunnel that once served as safe passage to the church next door, though both are no longer in use. But all that character – the huge stone walls, the centuries old timbers, arched doors and windows, manorial fireplaces, it’s all too lovely. Furnishings are an eclectic mix of antique, mid-century, and modern, wonderful artwork adorns the walls; accessories range from French and colonial, to fun and quirky and the ecclesiastical (yes, that is the virgin Mary behind the bar, adorned with fairy lights).

Downstairs

Park up, go in through the door to the back hall with a utility room on the right. Straight ahead is the main hallway, off this is a long kitchen with a bar at the end of the room, and a living area with big and inviting leather sofas. Steps go up to the dining room, with Bedroom 6 off to the right and steps down to the living room which leads back to the main hall.

Upstairs

From the main hall a rather grand staircase rises to a spacious landing and a passageway to Bedrooms 1-4 and a family bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a curtained bathroom, Bedroom 2 has an ensuite bathroom and separate loo. At the end of the passageway stairs lead to Bedroom 5 on the second floor, which has an ensuite shower room.

Outside

Mingleby Manor is set in gated 2 acre grounds, with the main garden and terrace at the front of the house, all in keeping with informal gardens where flowers ramble and tumble, a haven for bees and butterflies. At the back of the house, the former stable block now houses the part open games room and the hot tub; over the wall, is the churchyard. Spend lazy days dining alfresco on the terrace, find a quiet spot for a chat or to take 5 with a good book, it’s all so dreamy.

Fill your days with happiness, luxuriate in the historic charm and the comfort, make magical memories. Book your stay today!
