Country manor style inside and out awaits you at Mingleby Manor on the Somerset coast, yet the buzzing high street and marina at Portishead are just a 5 minute stroll away. It’s a great combination for your large group holiday in the UK, a beautiful historic house to stay in and an upbeat cosmopolitan vibe on the doorstep. 6 bedrooms sleep 14, in the former stables at the back of the house there’s a games room and hot tub.
It looks and feels like a different world here, one where time slows down and the push and shove of city life seems so far away. It’s a very wonderful place to stay for days away with friends and family, for sophisticated hen weekends, and self-catering corporate breaks. So rare is it to find a large group holiday house quite like this, your time at Mingleby Manor will be unforgettable.
Amble down to the marina for lunch at one of the waterside restaurants, go crabbing with the fam, dangling your lines over the harbour wall; browse the independent shops in the high street, wander out to the Lake Grounds where you can have a swim at the open air Lido; feed the ducks, hire rowing boats in the summer months. Play on the sand at Sugar Loaf Beach, pack a picnic and head up over the cliffs on the South West Coast Path to Battery Point.
There are exciting days out to be had in Bristol, with attractions like We the Curious, Bristol Aquarium and SS Great Britain. Explore the city to discover elegant Clifton Village, the arts quarter at Christmas Steps, the quirky stalls at St Nicholas Market, and the views over the harbour from the top of the Cabot Tower. Or there’s Bath, with its Roman and Georgian history; browse the shops, catch some street theatre, visit the world famous Roman Baths and the beautiful Bath Abbey, stroll across Pulteney Bridge or go paddleboarding down through the city on the River Avon.
There is so much to see and do within a short drive – beautiful Tyntesfield (NT), Bristol Zoo Project, the Mendip Hills and the sandy beaches at Weston-Super-Mare, but if you’re perfectly happy mingling at Mingleby, why go anywhere at all? Put your feet up, idle away the hours, so relaxed, so content, capture those special moments. You’ll be recounting the memories for years to come; “Remember when we stayed at that lovely manor house in Portishead….”

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The manor is absolutely beautiful and has everything you need for large parties, the hosts Helen and mick are so welcoming and obliging I just wish I could have stayed forever, our bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The hot tub was very popular and the robes were genius, so many areas for guests to be together or apart. And just a few minutes walk into town which was surprising as it felt like you were in the countryside."
