Coat Barn is set on a quiet lane in a tiny hamlet near Martock in South Somerset. This big old Hamstone barn has been sympathetically converted to provide large group holiday accommodation with all the 21st century facilities you could possibly want for your family holiday or celebration. There's a huge amount of space for you all to enjoy luxury togetherness, whether it's for a week long holiday, a midweek break or a weekend stay. 8 very modern ensuite bedrooms sleep 18 people, there's a large kitchen, dining hall and living room, and a private indoor pool and games room. The location is peaceful and private, with the accommodation centred around a big lawned courtyard; inside aged stone walls exude a wonderful warmth and big expanses of glass allow natural light to pour in; in the summer it's light and airy, in the winter it's warm and cosy.

If you want to explore the local area you'll find plenty to see and do within just a few miles. Ham Hill Country Park is only a 10 minute drive away and has some of the finest views in South Somerset; find a nice spot for a picnic, have an amble around the ramparts, go to the Prince of Wales pub for lunch, or down to the Lord Nelson at Norton-sub-Hamdon. Just down the lane from Coat Barn you can hop into the fields and walk along the banks of the River Parrett through cider orchards to Kingsbury Episcopi. Pootle round the lanes to Burrow Hill Cider and have a guided tour of the farm and orchards, venture out to the Somerset Levels where the nature reserves are incredibly tranquil; go to Shapwick Heath and Westhay Moor to see starling murmurations over the wetlands in the winter months.

For something different take in the spiritual vibe of Glastonbury; see the hallowed abbey ruins, the enchanting Chalice Well and climb the Tor for panoramic views across the Somerset landscape. Visit Wells on market day and join the merry throng bustling around the stalls, go and see the splendid cathedral and Bishop's Palace where the swans that live in the moat come and pull on a bell when it's feeding time. Enjoy family fun at Wookey Hole, Haynes Motor Museum or Fleet Air Arm Museum, visit Montacute House and Barrington Court for grandeur and history. Further afield you can enjoy day trips to Exmoor National Park discovering the steep wooded valleys and the heather clad heaths where red deer and wild ponies feed; stroll along the river at Watersmeet or Tarr Steps, see the charming thatched cottages at Selworthy Green, climb to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point in the park with staggering views. Head over to the Jurassic Coast for a day by the sea, while away the hours rockpooling or fossil hunting at Charmouth, board a boat for mackerel fishing at Lyme Regis, see the rarities at Dinosaurland Fossil Museum and the sealife at the Marine Aquarium.

If you decide not to go anywhere at all we completely get it. Idle the hours away relaxing around the pool at Coat Barn, doing cartwheels on the lawn, or playing ping-pong in the games room; snuggle up on the big horseshoe sofa and watch your favourite movie together, put your pinnies on and have a family bake off in the kitchen. Whatever you want to do, we know you'll have happy days and peaceful nights at Coat Barn. Book today!
