This gorgeously Georgian holiday house stands in an elevated position on the Somerset Levels with far-reaching views and peace and quiet all around. Come for relaxing large group holidays any time of year, lap up the laid-back country vibe, catch up and reconnect.

Step inside the big front door to a hallway that runs back to front; notice the original features - the stained glass sunlight above the door, flagstone floors and high ceilings; it all melds so well with the eclectic mix of modern, rustic and vintage interiors.

To the right is the movie room with a big wall-hung TV and plenty of seating to snuggle into; the 1920’s hunting themed frieze is still there from Withymans’ days as a farmhouse. Next door is the Drawing Room, very in keeping with a marble fireplace, sparkly chandelier and floral curtains; the views are wonderful, stretching for miles across the Levels.

Left of the hall there’s a WC, and contemporary glass doors through to the kitchen/dining room. This is a brilliantly sociable space, with the kitchen to one end and the dining area to the other. There’s exposed brick and stone walls, the original bread oven, and a wonderful hygge feel; a bespoke table seats all, French doors open to the patio at the front of the house.

Off the kitchen there’s an inner hall with a ‘canine cubby’ for dogs to sleep, a door to the sunny back courtyard, and another to the utility room. Also off the kitchen is Bedroom 6, access friendly with a king size bed and a large ensuite wet room.

Upstairs off the main landing are Bedrooms 1-4 and the family bathroom; Bedroom 1 has a super king bed and an ensuite shower room, plus space for an extra guest bed (charged). Bedroom 2 has zip and link beds (super king or twin) and a free-standing bath, and Bedroom 3 has a king size bed. Bedroom 4 has zip and link beds and can accommodate an extra guest bed (charged); this room shares a Jack and Jill shower with Bedroom 5, a twin room off the half landing.

By the back door in the hall, stone steps lead down to the games room, making excellent use of what was the cellar back in the day, evidenced by the red brick pillars and vaulted ceiling. Many happy hours will be spent here playing table football and air hockey, or in the gaming zone (bring your own devices), so it’s a great space to hang out.

At the front of the house there’s a large secure garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue on the patio; in a raised corner there’s a hot tub, in a small wooded area there’s a firepit, the kids will have a whale of time on the trampoline. Soak up the sunshine, watch it slip slowly beneath the horizon; unhurried days to be enjoyed and remembered. Book your stay at Withymans today!
