Tucked in a sheltered spot among trees, fronting a wide open lake, The Glass House is a luxury group holiday house that sleeps 8. Once you’ve stayed here, you will never forget it, which is why it’s a great choice for big family holidays, relaxed days away with friends, and for special birthday and anniversary celebrations.

The Glass House has been the focus of considerable TV and media attention due to its astounding architecture; the house doesn’t just sit at the edge of the lake, it’s actually submerged within it – the basement level is 3.5m below the water! Above are 2 more floors, a huge roof terrace, a wrap around balcony and a lakeside garden. The house has sustainable technology, including triple glazing, air con, an air source heat pump, heat recovery system and solar panels. The lights, blinds and temperature around the house are controlled by a Home Automation system.

Step into the hallway and straightaway those views over the lake are there. The whole house is filled with light; landscape and interior, architecture and nature are one. With the focus on inside-outside living, interiors are kept simple, with dark oak floors and white walls hung with giant artworks.

Note the staircase, carved from a single 500 year old tree! To the left is Bedroom 4, with a double bed and an ensuite white marble wet room; to the right is the TV Room and straight ahead are steps down to the open-plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well-equipped with some big designer names, a choice of gas, electric and steam ovens, and an enormous central island. A glass fireplace partly divides the dining area and the living room; floor to ceiling glass doors open onto the terrace and lead down to the water’s edge – great for coffee in the morning, an unhurried barbecue at lunchtime, and cocktails at sunset.

Downstairs in the basement there’s a Spa Room with a hot tub, sauna and chill-out zone. Next to this is a utility room and then the games room, which has a full-size snooker table and a bar with candy floss and popcorn machines – very convenient as doors open to the professional 9 seater cinema room. This is the bees knees - leather recliners, top quality projection, dynamic lighting and a vibration based sound system.

Bedrooms 1-3 are on the first floor 1-3, all sumptuous and spacious, with views that make it hard to get out of bed. Bedroom 1 has a bath by the window, a dressing room, a walk-in wardrobe, and an opulent black marble ensuite shower room. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are to either side of the landing, both with sophisticated white marble ensuite shower rooms. If you need to touch base with work, you’ll find a very calm office space on this floor.

More stairs lead to the roof terrace, an amazing space with glorious vistas that roll on for miles over the lakes and countryside. Imagine those lazy days beneath summer skies, nights under the stars…. Lap up the luxury, fill your senses, be with nature. Book your stay at The Glass House today!
