In a peaceful setting on the Somerset Levels, Riverside is a big country cottage that was made for family holidays and quiet celebrations with the people you love most in the world. There’s something for all ages here – a covered hot tub, a games room, play room and outdoor play area; the views stretch for miles across an unspoilt landscape, the River Tone slips lazily along at the back of the house, boutique style interiors make you want to stay forever.
Step in through the porch to the reception/dining room, overlooking the enclosed front garden. There’s a long dining table for all those happy holiday mealtimes, and to one end, a snug area with a user-friendly woodburner and alcoves lined with quirky bookshelf wallpaper. Next to this is the light and airy kitchen/breakfast room with views over the river; to one end there’s a table with built-in seating, to the other the well-equipped Shaker style kitchen. To the left is the spacious living room, where the feels are so gentle and restful; there’s plenty of room to sit comfy, a woodburner for the colder months, and a TV.
On from the living room there’s a shower room and WC, and to one end is the garden/playroom. This is a lovely light filled space with games and toys to keep the little ones smiling; on warmer days open the sliding doors and step out into the secure front garden where there are swings, a living willow hut and a fenced in play area with a terrific hand-built pirate boat. Have a game of rounders on the lawn, get the barbecue going and dine outside, relax in the hot tub watching cotton wool clouds drift by.
Back in the reception/dining room, off to the right a lobby takes you to the utility room, a WC and to the games room where you can get together to play pool, table tennis and table football; doors open to a covered area and the hot tub.
Stairs take you up from the living room to Bedrooms 1 and 2, both with ensuite shower rooms; Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and Bedroom 2 a double. Another staircase in the reception room leads to Bedrooms 3-5; Bedrooms 3 and 4 both have zip and link beds (super king or twin), Bedroom 5 has a double and all have shared use of the family bathroom and separate shower room just across the landing. Bedroom 6 is on the top floor of the house, with breathtaking views of the Levels. This room has zip and link beds and a shower room the other side of the landing. Riverside has such a wonderful sense of calm, it’s a very special place to stay, a place for relaxing and making the happiest of memories.
