There’s something very special about a large group stay at Princehay Barton; the peace and quiet, the large grounds and the fantastic features. Step inside the big oak door and to the left of the wide hallway there’s an enormous open plan living space with plush velvet sofas to one end, a long bespoke dining table overlooking the garden, and a sleek modern kitchen; off this there’s a utility room and a hallway to Bedrooms 4-6 (more later).
Right of the main hallway is the games room with pool and table tennis, and a big TV. A short staircase takes you to the cinema room, just like the real thing with a huge screen, surround sound, proper tiered seating, floor cushions to settle on, air con, and even interval lights. Grab the popcorn – its movie night!
Next to the games room there’s a snug overlooking the front courtyard; this is where you can take five – a quiet moment, a chat, a few pages of your book. The games room also leads through to the spa hall, via a secure lockable door, and oh wow – this is the business! A swimming pool in the middle, and to one end, a sunken hot tub and glass fronted sauna – all you need for a private spa retreat.
Go upstairs from the hall to Bedrooms 1-3 which all have ensuite shower rooms, and like all the bedrooms at Princehay Barton, zip and link beds (super king or twin). An extra guest bed for a child aged 12 years or under is available for Bedroom 1 (Purtington), Bedrooms 2 and 3 (Downclose and Broadstone) sleep 2. The rooms are named after places and features on the local Coombe Farm Estate – a nice local touch.
On the ground floor, Bedrooms 4 and 6 (Coombe and Moultons) both have ensuite bathrooms and Bedroom 5 (Wayford) has an ensuite wet room. Bedrooms 5 and 6 also have the option of an extra guest bed, as per Bedroom 1.
Outside is just as gorgeous as inside; the 2 acre grounds include a large patio at the back of the house, lawns to play on, and pathways that wind round and about. There’s a mini henge and something you can use any time of year, a rustic BBQ bothy. There are streams to paddle in, an apple orchard full of blossom in springtime… the trees, the flowers, the birdsong, it’s all so lovely. Some things are too good to miss – book your stay today!
