Your holiday at Menagerie House begins as you pull off the lane and up the drive to this beautiful Georgian house set quietly amidst glorious North Devon countryside. With its rather grand façade, the columns and huge windows you can’t help but be impressed, and it's just as amazing inside, with the accommodation arranged over 3 floors. You’ll settle into your holiday with ease because the house has a very gentle and welcoming ambience; the modern furnishings and 21st century conveniences work well with the original features and essential character. There’s snooze space for 10 and at no extra charge, 2 optional extra beds that are perfect for children.

Step into a wide entrance hall and ahead of you are stairs to the first floor; off to the right is Bedroom 4 and to the left Bedroom 5; in between there’s a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, accessed from the hall and from Bedroom 4. Both of these bedrooms have zip and link beds (king size or twin) and room for a pull-out guest bed so they make good rooms for families. Both have doors that open to steps up to the garden - these are steep so toddlers and children will need to be supervised at all times.

On the first floor is one big open plan living/entertaining space, light and airy with a happy sociable feel; to the right is the living area with inviting sofas, a woodburner, soft lighting and a TV. To the left is the Shaker style kitchen, well-equipped and well laid out so cooking for your large group holiday should be stress free. A light flooded bay above the porch is the perfect place for the dining table, for hearty holiday breakfasts, long lazy lunches and big celebration feasts.

In the middle of the room French doors open out to a covered terrace and stairs lead on up to the second floor where you’ll find Bedrooms 1-3. These rooms all have zip and link beds (king size or twin) and ensuite shower rooms; there are original timbers that sit comfortably with a mix of modern and heritage style interiors.

Outside there’s a huge part-walled garden with plenty of room to play. Idle away the hours out there, have a leisurely barbecue on the terrace and if the sun gets too much for you, head for the covered area. Slip into the hot tub, sit back and enjoy the incredible views of hills and fields that roll on and on across the Devon landscape. To stay at Menagerie House is to capture the essence of big family holidays in the country; peace and quiet, birdsong, and in the summer, the thwack of leather on willow from the cricket field at the other side of the woods. It’s what we all need sometimes, time away from the push and shove. Come and make happy memories at Menagerie House.
