You don’t need to go far to see just how gorgeous the landscape is around here; guests have access to wider grounds at Luntley Court where there’s a historic dovecote and several good walks. Stroll into Pembridge for lunch at The Cider Barn or The New Inn, wander down to the village at Dilwyn for an unhurried pint at The Crown Inn. More experienced walkers can plan routes along Offa’s Dyke or hikes in the Black Mountains where the views from Hay Bluff are incredible. Venture deeper into the Brecon Beacons and take on an adrenalin fuelled adventure challenge

A must in these parts is a jaunt on the Black and White Village Trail which takes you through picturesque villages to spot the quirky half-timbered buildings that North Herefordshire is famous for. Pootle about the quiet roads and you’ll soon discover something worth stopping to take a closer look at; go and see the pretty ‘wedding cake’ church at Shobdon and the hallowed beauty of Dore Abbey.

Garden lovers will enjoy a trip to Hergest Croft and Westonbury Mill Water Gardens, those with a thing for historic houses should visit Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Hay on Wye is world famous for its book shops and literary festival; there are regular markets and a choice of places to eat. Spend a day in Ludlow browsing the shops and visiting the medieval castle; go in September and you might catch the Ludlow Food Festival, held in the castle grounds. In Hereford you can pick up vintage and artisan delights in the Independent Shopping Quarter and while away a few hours in the cathedral, know all over the globe for its Chained Library and the Mappi Mundi.

If you’re staying at Luntley Court for a family holiday or special celebration, wow the little ones with an exciting trip to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre, or drive over to Symonds Yat to the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo.
