In its former existence Hunky-Dory was a big Georgian farmhouse; now it’s a beautiful large group holiday house that sleeps 18 in 8 ensuite bedrooms, with room for 6 more at an extra charge each. There's so much here to keep you smiling – a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, 2 games rooms and a gaming zone/movie room, so something for all ages and all weathers!
Go through the porch into the kitchen, a big sociable space that’s great for relaxing and entertaining. Behind a door is the ‘back’ staircase, to the side there’s a utility room with an ice machine and laundry facilities; straight ahead is a stunning glass dining room with a long handcrafted table and bi-fold doors that open onto the terrace.
The walled garden is south facing, so it’s perfect for barbecues and lazy days spent by the pool or soaking in the hot tub. There’s an outdoor kitchen on the terrace with a barbecue, pizza oven and firepit, ample outdoor furniture, and outdoor table tennis. Steps lead up to a lawn and to the pool and hot tub, both are kept warm by an electrically operated cover so can be used any time of year. At the top of the garden a gate gives views across the fields of the 20 acre Wiltshire Estate.
To the right of the kitchen is the living room, an elegant room with a peaceful ambience, and so stylish with sumptuous and colourful chairs and sofas. A wide hallway leads to the front door (not used) and the main staircase; to the right is the gaming zone/movie room, to the left the games room, where doors lead back through to the kitchen and dining area (it’s a great house for hide and seek!). Interiors are an eclectic mix of modern meets vintage, with quirky accessories and bold colours; it works and it’s wonderful.
On the first floor a landing takes you to Bedrooms 1-4, all with ensuite shower rooms and except for Bedroom 4, all have zip and link beds that can be arranged as kings/super kings or twins (see Rooms). Bedroom 4 has sturdy handcrafted bunk beds that are comfortable enough for adults. Bedrooms 5-8 are on the second floor, all with ensuite shower rooms and zip and link beds; Bedrooms 1, 5, 7 and 8 all have room for an optional extra guest bed (small charge each), Bedroom 3 has room for 2 of these - this makes a great set up for friends sharing or for families.
The other games room, in a separate building at the top of the garden has a pool table. At the front of Hunky-Dory there's a private field where you can enjoy leisurely picnics or a game of rounders. There are very special memories to be made at Hunky-Dory, times you’ll never forget.
Hunky-Dory is within the private 20 acre Wiltshire Estate; there are other properties on the estate undergoing renovation for letting with Group Stays and whilst work is underway it is likely that you will hear/see evidence of this, though every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. During the week the builders finish at 5pm Mon-Thurs and at 4pm on Fri; there will be no works at weekends unless absolutely necessary. The entrance to Hunky-Dory is not used by anyone other than guests staying at the house.
