Pootle through the beautiful scenery of the Cranbourne Chase, up the long winding lane to House on the Hill. Park up and go in, through the porch to the wide reception hall, to tastefully eclectic interiors - raspberry pink bookcases, parquet flooring, antique rugs and original artworks. Look up behind you and there’s a gallery where you can spend a quiet moment; straight ahead is the garden room, with an outlook over the garden and the distant hills. To the right is the kitchen, an enormous room to gather together for happy sociable times; huge oak timbers reach to the rafters, there are sofas to sit comfy, and by the full height windows a long dining table sets the scene for celebration feasts; if you’re here for a special birthday or anniversary hire private caterers to mark the occasion.

Left of the hall a book-lined passage leads to the sitting room, and right at the end, a light and airy drawing room where a picture window gives incredible country views and French doors open onto the terrace. Up above this part of the house are Bedrooms 1-3; Bedroom 1 has a super king bed and a spacious ensuite bathroom; a dressing room sleeps 2 extra guests (charged per person) and has its own shower room. Bedroom 2 has a super king bed and an ensuite bathroom, Bedroom 3 has a super king bed and a shower room.

Back downstairs, at the end of the kitchen the utility/boot room has direct access from outside, perfect for when you come back from a country walk with wet dogs. Carry on through the inner hall to the movie room, with original film posters on the walls; stairs take you to a galleried landing and to Bedrooms 4 and 5, ideal as family rooms. Bedroom 4 has a super king bed, an ensuite bathroom, and a dressing room with 2 single beds; Bedroom 5 also has a super king bed plus two singles, and an ensuite bathroom.

Next to the movie room another hall leads to an open plan kitchen/living space - a great arrangement for a family or couples who prefer their own space. Upstairs are Bedrooms 6 and 7, both with ensuite bathrooms, and a landing where there’s a sofa bed that sleeps 2 (extra charge per person). Bedroom 6 has a king size bed and Bedroom 7 has twin beds. Bedroom 8 is on the ground floor next to the living space; it has a king size bed and an ensuite wet room.

The terrace runs along the back of the house and leads onto the garden and to open grounds where in summer time mown paths lead through the grass. Lawns slope gently down to a pond, beyond is the vastness of the Chalke Valley.

Just a few steps from the front door the Mediterranean style courtyard has a pool that’s heated for use from Easter to the end of October. The adjacent games room has a bar, pool table, table tennis and table football. All this and a world of your own for times you’ll always remember; book House on the Hill today!
