Once a grain barn on a busy working farm, Hillydays is now a luxury holiday house that sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms and has a private hot tub and BBQ lodge, and use of an outdoor heated pool from early April to the end of October. The setting, on a working farm in the Blackdown Hills AONB is very peaceful, surrounded by miles and miles of gorgeous Devon countryside. Inside the feels are gentle and welcoming with professionally styled interiors and plenty of space.
Step into a commodious entrance hall and off to the right is the large kitchen/dining room. If you’re planning on cooking a big celebration meal whilst you’re here you’ll have all the space and facilities you need; likewise, there’s ample room for private caterers to work if you hire them to come and create a birthday or anniversary feast for you. There’s a big chunky dining table to seat you all, soft seating, and just off the kitchen, a utility room with a washer and dryer, and a stable door leading out to the courtyard.
Straight ahead in the hall is Bedroom 5 which sleeps 2 and has a full size cot; off to the left is Bedroom 1 with an ensuite shower room. All beds at Hillydays are zip and ink so can be arranged as super kings or twins, except for Bedroom 3 which can have a king size or twin beds.
Stairs rise from the hall to a large living room with doors onto a glass fronted veranda where the views stretch for miles across the Blackdown Hills. To the left is Bedroom 2 with an ensuite shower room, and to the right are Bedrooms 3 and 4 and the family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Bedroom 3 also has access to the veranda where steps lead down to the landscaped gardens and pool, and Bedroom 2 has a Juliette balcony that takes in the incredible views.
The outdoor pool is shared with the owners, though they hardly ever use it; it can be booked for exclusive use at an extra charge. There’s plenty of room around it for loungers and there’s a breeze hut where you can escape the heat of the sun. The adjoining games area has a hot tub and outdoor table tennis, there’s a patio with a barbecue and pizza oven, a year-round BBQ lodge, and on the lawn, play equipment for the young ‘uns. There is so much to keep people of all ages smiling at Hillydays but sometimes the simple things are the best and it's hard to beat sitting out on the veranda, drink in hand, as the sun sets over the hills.
