Your holiday at Cricklehaze begins when you leave the A303 and head slowly through the lanes to where this luxury holiday home sits quietly waiting, tucked away in the folds of the Blackdown Hills Natural Landscape, with glorious scenery all around.
An access friendly path leads to the door and into the hallway. The feels are gentle and welcoming, sustainability is riding high, and there are echoes of the past when this was a milking parlour on a busy dairy farm - thick stone walls, milking jars repurposed as lights, milk churns upcycled to stools and side tables, copper piping that now serves as curtain poles. It works in harmony with the quirky interiors and unique artworks that adorn the walls.
To the right are Bedrooms 1 and 3, both with ensuite shower rooms, to the left are Bedrooms 2 and 4 with a bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower between them. Bedrooms 2-4 all have room for an extra guest bed (charged) so can sleep 3; all the bedrooms at Cricklehaze have zip and link beds that can be arranged as a king size or twins.
Continue round and down the steps to the vast open-plan living space; above you restored timbers soar to the roof, beneath you underfloor heating keeps you toasty in the colder months. To one end there’s comfy seating and a big TV, in the middle of the room is a very swish kitchen, fully equipped for your large group stay with built-in appliances, a huge central island and doors opening onto the patio. The other end of the room is the dining area, with the funkiest table you’ve ever seen - what a setting for a feast to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary!
Follow the hallway to Bedroom 5, another one with room for an extra guest bed. Further along there’s a bathroom, and Bedrooms 6 and 7; Bedroom 7 is wheelchair friendly with an ensuite wet room and doors to the patio.
Wrapping around the front and side of the house is a large patio with outdoor furniture, a covered barbecue area and play activities for younger children. Opposite the house is the spa hall and games room/movie room, with a multi-use games table, table football, sofas to cosy up on and a projector with wall projection. A large viewing window to the pool makes it easy to keep an eye on older children if you need to.
Go through to the changing rooms, to laundry facilities,a wall mounted hairdryer and a quirky sink, hand carved from natural stone. There’s a WC and shower and then secure locking doors to the pool room. And what an incredible space! There’s a large sauna, the pool takes centre stage, and at the end of the room, sunk into the floor, is a striking stainless steel hot tub.
