Deep in the Devon countryside, winding country lanes lead you gently to Babblebrook, over a little bridge and into the drive. This is a very special place to stay, close to nature and so tranquil. If you want to unwind away from the stresses of modern life, this is perfect. 5 bedrooms sleep 10 and just a few steps from the house a self-contained annexe (The Nook) provides accommodation for 2 more guests at an extra charge. Out on the veranda there's a hot tub where you can contentedly soak and look out onto the gorgeous gardens - a big feature of this beautiful holiday house. There are lawns and trees, the Little Dart River trips merrily along the boundary and to either side are orchards, billowing with apple blossom in the springtime.

Go in through the hall to a large L-shaped open-plan kitchen, dining and living room. The style is relaxed country-modern, with a well-equipped kitchen, a long wooden table for happy holiday dinner times and celebration feasts, and sofas to curl up on. In the summer, leave the French doors open and let the fresh country air drift in, step out onto the veranda where indoors meets outdoors; it runs the whole length of the house and is such a wonderful spot for unhurried breakfasts, for lazy barbecues, and quietly chatting into the night as you soak beneath the stars in the hot tub. In the colder months, come back and light the wood-burner after a stroll through Buzzards Woodland, sit close and warm your toes.

To the left of the open-plan living space there’s a conservatory that opens onto the garden, light and airy, a lovely place to sit any time of year. To the right is the living room where a big L-shaped sofa beckons you to put your feet up and watch TV, to play games, or read a story to the little ones. If you need to touch base with work, there’s a desk by the window, overlooking the garden.

Upstairs the bedrooms are classic country style, and so restful; Bedrooms 1 and 3 have super king beds, Bedroom 2 has a king size double, and Bedrooms 4 and 5 are twin rooms. All have use of two shower rooms or a family bathroom on the same floor. Bedrooms 1 and 3 both have room for one of the extra guest beds.

The Nook is available at an extra cost to sleep 2 more guests. This is so perfect for anyone who likes their own space because besides the bedroom there’s a kitchen, living/dining room and a shower room. The bedroom has a super king bed and a free standing bath; French doors open onto a balcony – throw them open on warm mornings when the birds are in full voice in the treetops, have your coffee out there.

The garden catches the sun nearly all day long, so if you’re hankering after one of those good old-fashioned holidays in the country, you’ll adore Babblebrook. While away the days all happy together in the gardens; follow the little paths that meander through the trees, play croquet on the lawn, have a lazy picnic on the riverbank. When evening comes, go to the orchard, to sit around the firepit toasting marshmallows as the stars come out. It’s the little things that go a long way towards the most wonderful memories and there are plenty to be made at Babblebrook. It’s a little piece of heaven in Devon – book today!
