TEDS PLACE - Somerset

Teds Place is set in the heart of the Somerset Levels, at the end of a short track, beside the River Brue. Being only a few miles from the M5 and within easy reach of the A39, this contemporary large group holiday house is ideal for days out to Bristol and Bath, or to the beaches on the Somerset coast, and is also great for reunions with friends travelling from different parts of the country. 6 bedrooms sleep 12 and there’s an extra guest bed available for a child aged 16 years or under. Just a few steps from the house there’s a large games room with a pool table, table tennis and table football, in the riverside garden there’s a 4.8m swim spa.

The views from the house are lovely, especially in summer when the trees are in full leaf and you can look out across the river to fields where cattle graze. Explore the beautiful countryside on footpaths and trails right from the doorstep, or slip into the river just outside of Teds Place and you can paddle along the river as far as you like.

The Somerset Levels is a unique wetland landscape rich in history and myths, and fantastic for wildlife, with several tranquil nature reserves close by. You can discover more at the Avalon Marshes Centre where there are historic replica buildings, a craft centre, visitor information and a café. Stroll around one of the nature reserves on the Avalon Marshes, listen out for the boom of a bittern, come in the winter for spectacular starling murmurations.

Spend a morning ambling around the pretty village of Wedmore with its local shops and centuries old cottages. Stop by for lunch at The Swan or The George, then wend your way back to Teds Place for an afternoon relaxing in the garden. Go to Wells to see the famous cathedral, the 14^th century moated Bishop’s Palace and the cobbled Vicar’s Close, the oldest inhabited medieval street in Europe.

Soak up the spiritual vibe in Glastonbury, browse the quirky shops, visit the Chalice Well and the Abbey - said to be the last resting place of King Arthur and his Queen, Guinevere. Climb the Tor for panoramic views, or for something different, book an Avalon Adventure with Walking With Wizards to wander the old faerie lanes and pilgrims paths.

Head to the coast for seaside fun at Weston-Super-Mare, or to stroll along the sands at Brean or Berrow.
