Have a day of adventure at Clumber Park or Rufford Abbey Country Park where you can try archery, play adventure golf and go boating on the lake. And if you’ve a thing for history you should visit the National Civil War Centre at Newark and The Workhouse and Infirmary near Southwell where you can see what life was like for the poor and destitute in Victorian times; then go to Southwell Minster to see the intricate nature carvings in the Leaves of Southwell. Some of England’s oldest customs survive in this area, with strip farming still in practice at Laxton and maypole dancing on the village green at Wellow.
