In its former days, Viney Hill Country House was a rambling old farmhouse, with parts of it dating back to 1741. In more recent years it's been extended and renovated to a very high standard to bring you luxury togetherness for large group holidays just a stone's throw from the beautiful Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The house has heaps of space, with 8 bedrooms sleeping 16 guests and room for 2 more at no extra charge; there's a games room with a pool table and outside in the 1 acre grounds there's a private pool that's covered and heated so can be used any time of year. There's also a Scandinavian style BBQ lodge for year-round use, and a play area and trampoline for the little ones. With glorious countryside all around and plenty to see and do nearby, this is the perfect group accommodation for big family holidays and low-key celebrations, sophisticated hen weekends and corporate hospitality or team building away days.

Viney Hill Country House is right on the eastern fringes of the Forest of Dean so there's ample opportunity to get out and explore and for family days out. Lace up your boots for a good walk in the forest, see the enormous artworks on The Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail; hire bikes from Pedalabikeaway and set off on one of the cycle trails, or go to Wyedean Canoe & Adventure Centre at Symonds Yat for canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling or caving. Try paddleboarding with SUPYOFI at Ye Old Ferrie Inn, in a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Wye; release your inner Tarzan on the high rope challenge at Go Ape Forest of Dean, take your binoculars and see if you can spot the peregrine falcons that nest in the cliffs at Symonds Yat Rock.

Just down the road on the banks of the River Severn is the small town of Lydney where you can browse the shops and have a stroll around the little harbour; go and see the 12th century St Briavels Castle or take a ride on the steam train with The Dean Forest Railway. If you fancy a more cosmopolitan day out go to Gloucester for a shopping trip; see the inspiring Gothic cathedral with its royal tombs, and the medieval Greyfriars Priory. Spend a day in Bristol where you can stroll around Clifton Village and take in the upbeat vibe of Gloucester Road; wander down to the harbour to climb on board SS Great Britain and visit We the Curious science museum.

Take the family for a ride on the steam train with Perrygrove Railway and get off at Foxy Hollow for a picnic, go underground at Clearwell Caves or Hopewell Colliery, join in a ferret walk and dress up as a Victorian school child at the Dean Heritage Centre. Get up close to owls and hawks at The International Centre for Birds of Prey, see tropical butterflies at the various stages of their life cycle at Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo. Within an hours' drive or so and great for day trips are Big Pit National Coal Museum, Longleat Safari Park, and in the craggy Mendip Hills, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. But if all you want to do is stay in your own little world at Viney Hill with the pool and the BBQ lodge and the games room... well, we perfectly understand. There's so much to keep you all happy; fun will be had, memories will be made.

NB: Due to planning restrictions this property sleeps a maximum of 14 guests from single sex groups.
