Many years ago Coat Barn was the grain barn on a Somerset farm; since then it’s been sympathetically converted to provide outstanding group accommodation for 18 guests in 8 ensuite bedrooms. With a private pool, games room and play equipment this is a great choice for happy family holidays and peaceful celebrations.

Step into the lofty entrance hall and to the right is the kitchen/breakfast room, well-equipped and with plenty of space, so cooking for your large group is stress free. If you hire one of our recommended private caterers to come and cook you a celebration feast they’ll have plenty of room to work here.

Go through to the dining hall where centre place is a long table that comfortably seats 18; through a light-filled lobby is the living room, with a commodious U-shaped sofa and a huge wall hung TV – great for family movie nights or for watching the latest big match. Further along the corridor are Bedrooms 6-8, all with ensuite shower rooms - the beds at Coat Barn are all zip and link so you can have them arranged as super kings or twins.

Left of the entrance hallway there’s a spacious utility area; very handy for muddy boots and wet dogs when you come back from a country walk. On from this there’s a bathroom and Bedroom 5 which sleeps 4 in either two super king beds, a super king and two singles, or in 4 singles, so it works equally well as a family room or a dormitory for older children.

To each end of the dining hall there’s a staircase; one takes you to a galleried landing and to Bedroom 3 which has an ensuite shower room, and Bedroom 4, which has its own dressing room and bathroom. The other staircase leads to Bedroom 2, which has an ensuite shower room, and to Bedroom 1, a large room with an ensuite bathroom.

Coat Barn is reminiscent of a Roman Villa, with the accommodation centred around a big south facing courtyard. French doors open from all ground floor rooms onto a wide patio, in the middle is the lawn so it’s easy to keep an eye on the younger folk running about and playing. Get out there, join in the fun, pull up a lounger and soak up the sunshine while the steaks sizzle on the barbecue; that’s what large family holidays are all about, relaxing, unwinding together.  At the side of the house there’s play equipment and a lawn where you can have a game of French cricket or a picnic.

The swimming pool is in a self-contained building on one side of the courtyard, and has changing rooms and a WC; upstairs is the games room, a great place to chill out, with table tennis, table football and bean bags to lounge on. Coat Barn is for all ages, all year round; come and find your happy, book today!
