Whether it’s corporate hospitality or a spot of team building, Shires is the ideal large group self-catering accommodation because it’s got all you need to keep everyone entertained and occupied. Your guests will enjoy unwinding over a game of pool or two, a few lengths in the infinity pool, a soak in the hot tub, or a relaxing sauna. Get one of our highly recommended professional caterers in to cook for you, if you don’t want to go out you can even book up in-house activities for team building – cup cake decorating, pottery painting, or dance classes; all great ways of breaking the ice.

If you’re entertaining key clients you might want to take them out, so maybe a trip to the coast appeals where you can go mackerel fishing, or a visit to one of the historic houses in the area – Killerton, Knightshayes, or Forde Abbey. If you’re looking for team building ideas, well, you could always set the challenge of a hike in the countryside, right from the door, or you could do something a bit more adventurous, like a high ropes session at Go-Ape Haldon Forest, go-karting at Mansell Raceway, or clay pigeon shooting at Exeter Laser Clays.

Maybe you’re more of a golfing crowd in which case you can book up a round at Oake Manor Golf Club or Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club. If you like fishing you can book the lake at Stillwaters Fly Fishing just up the road and have the whole site all to yourselves; if your visit coincides with a race day at Taunton Racecourse then go for it, get dressed up and cheer on the nags.

There’s every possibility you’ll want to take your guests out to eat whilst you’re staying at Shires, and you won’t be disappointed at the excellent pubs and restaurants to be found in the area. The Pig at Combe, The Holt in Honiton, Augustus and the Castle Bow Restaurant are all very good, but for something more pubby try the Candlelight at Bishopswood or the Tuckers Arms at Dalwood. For more of a dining experience alongside top-notch food there’s River Cottage or The Giant Club in Axminster.

We are very confident when we say that a corporate break at Shires will be one sure way to impress; check now for availability.
