Pitmaston House will impress you from the minute you walk in to the commodious reception hall, with Corinthian style pillars, a plush velvet sofa and a trendy cowhide rug. Straight ahead down a couple of steps is a gorgeously boudoir loo; off to the left is another reception room and the open plan living/entertaining space – and wow, what a room!
This was the conservatory in the days when the house was lived in by a prominent horticulturalist; now it’s a stunning kitchen/dining/living room with heaps of style and everything you need for a sociable large group stay – 2 big ovens, a large halogen hob, plenty of gadgets, and a big sturdy dining table to sit around for leisurely meal times or celebratory feasts. Get settled on the big sofas to watch a movie whilst your food goes down, or find a cosy spot in the snug next door; if it’s chilly light the fire, then spend the evening playing board games and chatting.
On the first floor are Bedrooms 1-4; Bedroom 1 has a kingsize bed and as well as an en suite shower room there’s a free-standing bath in front of a window in the bedroom; there’s also a spacious mezzanine dressing area. Bedroom 2 has a contemporary four poster bed and an en suite bathroom with a bath and shower; Bedroom 3 has zip and link beds (superking or twins) and an en suite shower room, and Bedroom 4 is a long room with a semi-dividing feature brick wall; there’s a kingsize bed and an en suite shower room.
Bedrooms 5 to 7 are on the top floor. Bedroom 5 has a kingsize bed and an en suite shower room; we love the quirky Penguin Book wallpaper and the little balcony that overlooks the rear garden and the park beyond. Bedroom 6 is a double aspect room with a double bed and an en suite shower room; Bedroom 7, has a kingsize bed and an en suite bathroom with a bath tub and separate shower.
At the back of the house is the hot tub/swim spa, a trampoline, the covered dining pavilion, and new from April 2019, an outdoor gym/games area. This is such a sociable spot; spend an evening beneath the twinkly lights sizzling steaks on the bbq or cooking Margheritas in the pizza oven. If it gets chilly, light the firepit, wrap up in warm blankets and stay out nattering 'til it’s time for bed; it’s what holidays are all about.
