This luxury holiday lodge in the Somerset village of Bishopswood makes a fantastic base, with no shortage of things to see and do nearby, but you might just want to stay put because it's so relaxing at Flossy Brook and there's all you need - plenty of space indoors and out, a well equipped kitchen, big fat sofas, spacious bedroms to sleep 12, and a fantastic indoor pool. It's such a lovely house; art lovers will adore the original prints and paintings that hang on the walls - the work of the owner's parents who are renowned local artists.

Flossy Brook sits in an old meadow in the Blackdown Hills AONB on the borders of Somerset and Devon, within easy reach of the A303 and M5. It's perfectly placed for exploring the glorious countryside surrounding the village, with pretty meadows and a wealth of wildlife; you'll find some tranquil picnic spots and walks at Staple Hill, Castle Neroche or Otterhead Lakes. A little further afield you can discover the time honoured tradition of cider making at Perry's Cider Mills, or enjoy some of the many historic houses dotted throughout the area, including Forde AbbeyMontacute House and Barrington Court. Garden lovers will delight in East Lambrook Manor and Hestercombe House, and Stourhead House & Gardens aren't too far away. Have a day out; take a steam train journey along the West Somerset Railway and alight at Blue Anchor, Watchet or Minehead for some sea air. Head over to the world famous  Jurassic coast  to Lyme Regis or Beer for a mackerel fishing trip, or to Regency Sidmouth for a stroll around.

Spend a day in the Quantock Hills where you can visit Coleridge Cottage at Nether Stowey, or book up with Quantock Trekking and see the hills on horseback; climb up to Wills Neck or the top of Holford Combe for gorgeous views out over the gentle heather clad hilltops. Follow in the footsteps of Lorna Doone on Exmoor, and whilst you're there stop off at Watersmeet for a cream tea and a stroll along the river. Go and see the unusual clapper bridge over the River Barle at Tarr Steps, and step back in time at Dunster Castle. If you like shopping head off to Taunton, Exeter, or Clark's Village for the day; for a more leisurely browse round a market town, go to Ilminster or Honiton. For family fun or amusing the youngsters, Crealy Adventure Park, Haynes Motor Museum, and Wookey Hole are all within easy reach. Sometimes though, you just want the simple pleasure of a iaid back pub lunch and you'll find plenty round these parts; just down in the village is the Candlelight Inn, a few miles up the road is The Holman Clavel; the Greyhound at Staple Fitzpaine is close by, and the Half Moon at Clayhidon. Relaxing days, happy memories.
