Standing in the village of Hemyock on the Somerset/Devon border, this spacious Victorian house is set within the grounds of Culmbridge Manor and offers excellent accommodation for up to 12 people plus 2 cots and 2 toddler beds. With six bedrooms and two reception rooms, the property also benefits from a large private garden with a great play area, and the exclusive use of a large (12m x 4m, depth 1.2m to 1.8m) heated indoor swimming-pool and games room. From June 2018 there will be a Scandinavian style BBQ lodge in the grounds, and from September 2018, the pool hall will have the luxurious addition of a sauna.
Fully renovated and refurbished in recent years, and with shops and pubs in the village, the property makes a relaxing home for two or three families wishing to holiday together, or the ideal property for celebrations, a re-union of friends, or small corporate gatherings. Just south of Wellington, Hemyock is the largest village in the glorious Blackdown Hills AONB and has a very thriving community with a playing field, a well stocked shop, and a very good pub, The Catherine Wheel. The Blackdowns have a network of footpaths, bridleways, lanes and tracks, providing superb walking, cycling and horse riding country. Those who like a bit of adventure will find plenty of outdoor pursuits to try, ranging from go-karting to ballooning and gliding to golf and fishing.
Situated within easy driving distance off the M5, there is heaps to see and do just a little further afield - visit historic Killerton House and Gardens (NT), the cathedral city of Exeter, Diggerland, Crealy Adventure Park, Go-Ape, or Forde Abbey and Gardens. The stunning Jurassic coast is within easy travelling distance and has some delightful beaches, from the quaint fishing town of Lyme Regis to the Regency resort of Sidmouth. For the surfers, the North Devon beaches are within an hour's drive, or if you love the big outdoors, spend a day amongst the rugged beauty of Exmoor or Dartmoor National Parks. The county town of Taunton is not far away, nor the famous lace and antique town of Honiton. A great area with something for all ages!
