So here it is…. 2019! Seems incredible, doesn’t it – how quickly time flies! Happy New Year to you all and let’s hope it’s a good one whatever you’ve got planned. We’re all back in the office and it’s the busiest time of year for us, with bookings already taken for holidays in 2019 and 2020! It’s a well documented fact that early January is when more holidays are booked than at any other time of year, and don’t we know it, phones ringing, emails pinging…
The new year is certainly a time to be very positive and to plan ahead for things to look forward to; on the other hand, things may feel a bit flat and grey after the high jinx and frivolities of the festive season so a good way to perk things up is to book a holiday, something to get excited about, blue skies ahead.
It’s surprising how many large group holidays are taken during the early part of the year; if you missed out on bagging a big house for Christmas or New Year’s Eve, a post festive get together is a good idea, plus now is the time to make sure you don’t miss out this year – a lot of our luxury big holiday houses are already booked for Christmas 2019 but some are still available so take a look, see what you can find. Maybe you feel the need for a break after all the visitors coming and going, all the cooking and entertaining, a way to recharge your batteries! What better than a few days or a long weekend with your nearest and dearest, the chosen few; somewhere deep in the country where there’s nothing but peace and quiet, open skies, birds twittering, and lots to keep everyone happy.
Some folk like to spend the dark winter nights planning a summer holiday, dreaming ahead to warmer days lazing by the pool, balmy nights in the hot tub, strolls along the beach and picnics on hill tops with vistas of rolling valleys and immense countryside. For others it’s a sneaky break in the school holidays – at February half term or Easter, you know, a mid week break or even a whole week with a few other families, all the kids together having fun.
The thing is with Group Stays is that it really doesn’t matter what time of year you’re planning on going away because our large group self catering accommodation has more than enough to keep everyone amused, no matter what their ages. For starters, there’s usually a swimming pool, indoor, so not just a fair weather facility, and there are cosy BBQ lodges where you can have a winter barbecue, all gathered round sizzling sausages or toasting marshmallows. You’ll be snug and toasty beneath the fairy lights, with blankets or reindeer hides to keep you warm, sleepy heads on familiar shoulders as the night stretches into the early hours of morning.
Our country cottages have hot tubs too, and some are covered so you can sit out there feeling blissfully pampered and natter away even if it’s raining. If you like the idea of your own private spa then get this - we have big holiday homes with saunas and the occasional steam room, AND we have a list of recommended therapists who will come and spoil you with a range of beauty and relaxation treatments!
And there are games rooms; they tend to get taken over by the young ‘uns but it’s somewhere for all ages to get together and shoot some pool, play table football, ping-pong, air hockey, or to do some serious gaming. Of course, not all properties have the same kind of games rooms but there’s usually something in this vein there, and you’ll find games and toys for younger children too. If it’s dry they can head outdoors to play on the swings and slides or to have fun on the climbing frame. Like we said something for everyone.
Despite most of them being out in the country, our holiday homes for 8-30 people aren’t far from family attractions, welcoming village pubs, and attractive market towns. More often than not, the coast is within easy reach, and of course, with properties mostly in Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire, The New Forest, The Forest of Dean and Monmouth there’s no excuse for not getting out and exploring the beautiful landscape. You can see it on foot, on bike or on horseback, whichever appeals, and you’ll find a host of exciting activities you can do too – watersports, go-karting, climbing, escape rooms; all perfect for families, hen weekends and corporate team building breaks.
So if it’s something you’re thinking of, we say don’t dally because experience tells us that things get booked up pretty quickly. By the end of last summer we had no availability for Christmas and we reckon it will be a similar story this year, so strike whilst the iron’s hot and snap up that large group holiday whenever and wherever you want it to be. Whether you want to get away with family, friends or colleagues, whether you’re celebrating something very special this year, like a big birthday, a graduation, or an anniversary, or whether it’s a fun filled hen weekend, don’t miss out in 2019. Find your big happy with Group Stays.
