If you like the idea of staying in an idyllic country cottage with the people you love most in the world, you’ll love Dancing Hill. This large group holiday cottage sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms and has room for 2 more guests at an additional charge each. There’s enough to keep everyone smiling, with a games room, a hot tub and a swim spa; the feels are homely and welcoming with country character and quirky features. The setting, on a hillside close to the Quantock Hills is lovely, the views, stretching out across the Somerset countryside are astonishing.
A porch leads from the front garden into the hallway; straight ahead is the kitchen, with all you need to cater for your large group stay; if you’re here for a big birthday or anniversary you’ll have ample room to create a celebration feast. The adjoining dining/family room is flooded with natural light from full height windows on two sides. The dining table is something else, with an aluminium top and funky leather studded chairs, typical of the eclectic interiors. Big fat leather sofas entice you to settle down to watch TV or just sit and chat and admire the views. Bi-fold doors open onto the patio, another door leads out to the veranda and enclosed garden. Off the dining room there’s a walk-in pantry and a quirky shower room.
The other side of the kitchen is the games room, with country themed walls, soft seating and table tennis. Go through to the living room, warm and inviting with ceiling beams, red tartan sofas and a brick fireplace housing an enamelled wood-burning stove; in the floor there’s a glass covered, backlit working well. Off this room there’s a utility room, also accessed from the back of the house so it’s perfect for when you’ve been for a stroll in the hills and come back with wet coats and muddy dogs.
The living room is also accessed from the hall where to the right is Bedroom 6, sleeping 2 in zip and link beds (super king or twin). Upstairs is the heritage-style family bathroom and Bedrooms 1-5, all individually designed and with the exception of Bedroom 4, all with zip and link beds. Bedroom 1 has room for an optional extra guest bed and has a lockable door through to Bedroom 2, making it for a family with young children. Accessed from here and from Bedroom 5 is an ante-room with room for both of the extra guest beds and amazing views over to the coast.
There is a lawned garden at the front of the house and ample parking to the side. At the back there’s a veranda, a secure lawned garden, and a patio with outdoor seating and a BBQ. Steps lead down to the hot tub and 4m swim spa. Beyond this are lawns and a paddock; all around are fields and open farmland with views across to the Somerset coast.
